How Hotels Are Making Wellness and Self-Care Top Priorities | Pure Wellness

Wellness travel is among the top trends in the travel industry over the past few years.  As self-care and a proactive approach to health have become more and more a part of people’s daily lives, hotels are adapting by offering services that cater to these needs when they travel.

From nutritious food to purified air, let’s take a look at some of the ways hotels are helping travelers take better care of their mental and physical health away from home.

A holistic approach.  When thinking about guest health and wellness, it’s not enough to tack on additional options as an after-thought.  Hotels that excel in the wellness market build this into their DNA and consider it in all aspects of hotel design, operations and management.

Quality food and drink.  Gone are the days of bland, premade sandwiches for take-out and when hotel restaurants in every city offered the same menu of standard bar food.  Travelers today are looking for new, inventive options that make use of local and seasonal ingredients.

More fitness options.  Many hotels offer a gym with free-weights and a few treadmills but those oriented towards health and wellness are offering fitness facilities that guests actually want to use.  These include alternatives like yoga classes, bike rental programs and on-demand workout videos guests can use in the comfort of their room.

Improved common areas.  To enhance the guest experience, hotels are rethinking their use of space to include a variety of attractive lounges and other gathering places.  A bustling hotel lobby can be a conducive space during happy hour but it’s also important to build-in areas where guests can relax with a book or work on a report outside the confines of their room.

Better bath products.  From eco-friendly shampoo to artisanal soaps and lotions, hotels are stepping up their bath and body game.  Wellness travelers expect products that make them feel pampered while also taking care of the planet.

Hypoallergenic environments.  Air quality is among the top concerns that travelers have when staying in a hotel.  At Pure, we use advanced air-filtration and other amenities like allergy-friendly bedding to create a guest room experience that promotes health and well-being.
